If you live in Tokyo, you would go Kamakura again and again for various purpose, going to beach, sightseeing, dating, inviting friends from abroad and so on.
Kamakura is called as “Koto” which means that it was political base and important place historically. Kamakura was reigned by the warrior called “Bushi” at Kamakura age, about 700~800 years ago. Then we easily imagine shrines and temples there. However, Kamakura has other aspect as the place to reflect Japanese trend at that time.
Especially the path called“Komachi street” is full of people, the little shops change their service oftenly. When I visited the last time, fried dumpling was the trend. It may depends on season too.


Something never change regarding Kamakura is the geographical feature. Kamakura area is surrounded by mountains, faces to ocean. This feature which prevented enemies to enter from outside keep there as popular tourist area nowadays. I feel the change of times and history actually. This feeling makes me visit both mountains and beach every time.


Years by years, my image of Kamakura is getting changed because I could see other aspects of Kamakura.It is not only sightseeing spot. Some little restaurant which is supported by neighbors. Shrines and temples have to keep inherit cultural property by steady effort not only welcome tourists. I don’t want to mess the life of people living there, consume there only for sightseeing, neither. I want to confirm and feel this place by my own foot.
I don’t mean that we should go there many times to understand their real attraction.
I mean, regardless of having guide books or not, we surely can find something curious for each of us while we walking around there. It is the power of historical place, Kamakura.
Kamakura is easy to access from Tokyo. I enjoy according to my mood at the day I visit with relax. Sometimes I spent money to experience new shops, other times I just walk around to feel silence.


Long time ago, warriors at Kamakura period were proud of their selves when they go battle fields. They wear the best clothes on when they go, I heard. Every times I visit Kamakura, the shadows of the warriors occurred in my mind. Of course they are just phantoms. However, they come out again and again.
